About
Why owners hand me the marketing function.
Ten years of agency ownership and embedded operating work — building the systems, running the budgets, and learning exactly where fragmented vendor environments fail their clients.
From executing tasks to owning systems.
I spent ten years building and running a marketing agency — which means I’ve been the vendor in the fragmented environment I now fix. I’ve managed the budgets, run the channels, built the campaigns, and sat in the reporting meetings where everyone’s dashboard was green and the owner still couldn’t say what was working.
The pattern I kept seeing wasn’t a lack of effort or talent. It was structural: each provider accountable for a slice, nobody accountable for the system. The clients who grew weren’t the ones buying the most services — they were the ones where somebody senior connected strategy to measurement to execution and made the allocation calls.
So that became the work: revenue attribution, analytics and SEO architecture, CRM and lead-flow logic — the systems that make marketing measurable — combined with directing the vendors and teams who operate inside them. Embedded engagements like SeaWater Pro proved the model: when one person owns the system, the numbers stop being a debate.
This practice is that role, made available fractionally: senior marketing leadership for owner-operated companies that need direction and accountability more than they need another provider.
Operating principles
How I work.
Principle
Evidence before opinion
Decisions come from the measurement system, and the measurement system gets fixed first.
Principle
Read-only before recommendations
Diagnosis never modifies your accounts. You get findings, not fait accompli.
Principle
Verified figures only
If a number can't be traced to source, it doesn't go in a report — mine or yours.
Principle
Priorities over activity
The roadmap says what we're not doing this quarter, and means it.
Principle
Vendors directed, not churned
Good providers stay and get pointed at the same target. Replacements happen on evidence.
Principle
Reporting an owner can use
One executive view, plain English, decisions attached.
Proof
The receipts.
