Fractional Marketing Leadership
Your marketing needs an owner. It doesn't need a full-time CMO yet.
Fractional CMO leadership for owner-operated companies: one senior person accountable for strategy, allocation, vendors, and results — at a fraction of an executive hire.
Who this is for
Built for companies where the owner is still the CMO.
You have active marketing investment and real growth ambition. What you don't have is a senior marketing leader accountable for the entire system.
Decisions
You make most marketing decisions yourself
Budget, vendors, channels, creative — every call routes through you, on top of running the company.
Fragmentation
Multiple providers operate independently
Agencies, freelancers, employees, and platforms each doing their job — with no one directing them toward the same outcome.
Priorities
Activity exists, but priorities are unclear
Plenty gets done every month. Whether it's the right work, in the right order, is anyone's guess.
Reporting
Reporting doesn't support allocation
The dashboards you have don't answer the only question that matters: where should the next dollar go?
Attribution
Revenue visibility is incomplete
Attribution gaps mean your best channel and your worst channel can look identical in the CRM.
Ownership
No one owns the business outcome
Execution exists everywhere; accountability for the complete result exists nowhere.
Agencies execute channels. Leadership owns the system.
An agency’s job is to make its channel perform — and a good one does. But nobody inside a channel can decide whether that channel deserves the budget, how it should coordinate with the others, or when to stop. Those are leadership decisions, and in most owner-operated companies they’re being made by default: by whoever asked last, or by the owner at 9pm.
Advisors and consultants solve half the problem: they produce recommendations, and the recommendations sit in a deck. Analysts produce reports; the reports describe the past. What’s missing in both cases is the same thing missing with the agencies — someone accountable for what actually happens next.
The difference here is the combination: leadership judgment, systems visibility, and execution accountability in one role. Strategy that comes with a measurement system attached, and a measurement system that comes with someone answerable for the numbers on it.
Clear ownership, in writing.
What I own
- Strategic planning and the marketing roadmap
- Budget and channel allocation
- KPI accountability and executive reporting
- Vendor and team direction
- Quarterly prioritization
- The difficult marketing decisions
- Execution oversight
What stays outside the engagement
- Final budget sign-off — always yours
- Ad spend, software, and creative production
- Paid media execution, web development, CRM implementation, content production
- Outside vendor labor — all separately scoped, never bundled into the leadership fee
Cadence and decision-making.
The engagement runs on a monthly strategic cycle with a standing executive readout, and a quarterly prioritization that decides what the next ninety days are for. Decisions are made from the measurement system, not from opinion — and vendors and internal teams are directed against one roadmap instead of their own.
Engagement levels
Priced by responsibility, not hours.
A lower-priced advisory engagement is not full strategic ownership — the difference is spelled out before we start.

Qualification
Before you book.
Is there a minimum marketing investment?
The engagement makes sense when there's real money in motion — active spend across multiple channels or providers. If your marketing budget is one freelancer, you don't need a fractional CMO yet, and I'll say so.
What do you need from me as the owner?
Willingness to delegate direction. You keep final sign-off on budget and strategy, but if every vendor conversation still routes through you, the engagement can't do its job.
What if we're not a fit?
You'll know by the end of one conversation, and you'll leave with a straight answer — a referral, a smaller next step, or the honest 'not yet.'
Can we de-risk the decision?
Yes — that's what the Growth Systems Diagnostic is for. Two weeks, $1,500–$2,500, and you get the findings and roadmap whether or not we go further.
Proof
Results with the measurement to back them.
